MYLAPS, Datasport, and Abavent announce long-term timing partnership

Haarlem/Obergerlafingen, 30 August 2021 – Datasport, based in Switzerland, and its German sister company Abavent have worked together for many years with iconic races like Escalade, Jungfrau-Marathon, Engadin Skimarathon, Einstein Marathon, Ötztaler Radmarathon, HERO World series, and BDR-related events. These 2 companies are involved in more than 500 sports events per year in the DACH region and abroad. Founded in 1982, MYLAPS is the inventor of automatic sports timing and develops technology that is used all over the world, from the Olympics, Boston Marathon, and MotoGP to countless local races.

Switch to one single timing technology

To create ultimate synergy between Datasport and Abavent, both partners believe in switching to one single timingequipment supplier for both active and passive technology. The companies will rely on the proven BibTag and ProChip Systems, ensuring they can hit the ground running, all on the same timing platform.

Datasport and Abavent to use ProChip at IRONMAN races

Part of this partnership is that Datasport and Abavent will be the IRONMAN timing partner of MYLAPS in Germany, starting with 2 races in 2021 with the option to expand the number of events in 2022. Most IRONMAN races in Europe and all IRONMAN races in North and South America and Oceania are timed with the ProChip System, the standard for high-speed sports with an accuracy up to 0.003 seconds. The newly launched ProChip Smart Decoder is the smallest and lightest timing decoder in the industry.
