Colfax Marathon Participants Raising Funds for Davis Phinney Foundation
Denver, Colo. — The iconic Colfax Marathon returns to Denver Oct. 16-17 for its 15th anniversary. Runners have a variety of distances to choose from, all very beautiful and popular with runners from around the country. After canceling its 2020 race for health reasons, the celebration has returned.
Runners can raise funds for Team DPF for their races, with funds going directly to research, webinars and events to help people who are living with Parkinson’s and their caregivers.
Distances include a 5K, a 10-miler, a half-marathon, a marathon relay and the full marathon. Depending on the distance chosen, runners may run through the Denver Zoo, Denver Fire Station No. 1, the Broncos stadium, parks and, of course Colfax where runners enjoy the historic sites and downtown Denver. There is an expo and post-party.
The marathon is a Boston qualifier. For more information and race details, go to Colfax Marathon.
Team DPF has already raised nearly $1 million this year. These funds go to programming, events, education, quality of life research and resources for people affected by Parkinson’s.
“It’s a blast running with Team DPF,” says Lauren Kehn, Team DPF Manager and fundraising coach. “Anyone who wants to raise funds can learn more about Parkinson’s, and our work to support people living with Parkinson’s, and their care partners. At our events, including Colfax, you meet like-minded people who want to support their own community and have a genuine and meaningful impact on people’s lives.”
There is no cost to join, and people who raise certain levels at Team DPF events can earn incentives including branded Team DPF gear. People raise money from family, colleagues and friends, or by setting up their own social media pages. If you have specific questions, you can email email@example.com.
Team DPF accounts for about 35 percent of the funds that are raised by the Foundation annually, and offers fun, supportive experiences for participants at some of the best rides, runs, and walks across the country. With just a few events left in 2021, people interested in joining should join the newsletter where a complete calendar of 2022 events will be announced soon!
The Davis Phinney Foundation was founded by Olympic cyclist Davis Phinney in 2004 to help people with Parkinson’s live well today. The organization’s focus is to provide programs, early stage research, and resources that offer inspiration, information and tools that enable people living with Parkinson’s to take action that can immediately improve their quality of life. Parkinson’s is the No. 2 neurodegenerative disease – second to Alzheimer’s – and affects more than 1 million people in the United States. The Foundation’s work impacts hundreds of thousands of individuals and families each year.
Team DPF is the grassroots fundraising community that supports the Davis Phinney Foundation through participation in a wide range of athletic and community-based events. With a focus on fun, personal empowerment and fundraising for Parkinson’s, Team DPF welcomes all ages and abilities. With roots in cycling, Team DPF also extends to runners, climbers, swimmers, hikers, community events and more. Team DPF is sponsored by: Primal, AltRed, SCRATCH Labs, Wahoo SUF Training, Rick Baker Insurance, Amneal, Supernus, Catrike, and Carmichael Training Systems.
